As a child, I have seen my father dedicating himself to the services of the less successful ones. Same was the case when I joined Sunshine Grammar School. I was once again instructed and trained to be compassionate and help others, even in the smallest of form, to be a Sunshiner,. That was when I was in the stage of building my dreams.
Today, where I stand, I dedicate myself to bring joy in the lives of the downtrodden.
Sunshine Charities is actively involved with CMCH, where I am the Chairman at present. Sunshine Charities plays a brilliant role in supporting the Hospital and other hospitals as well since 1990. Every department at CMCH has received their demands/ needs from Sunshine Charities, when requested.

I had the opportunity to visit Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) on 11 March 2017 as a guest of one of CMCH’s chief benefactors Safia Ghazi Rahman, Chairperson, Sunshine Charities. The visit was an eye-opener for me. I witnessed miracles being achieved against all odds thanks to public-private sector partnerships (PPP) forged chiefly through vision, generous donations and sincere effort.

I was given to understand as well at the time that CMCH was the only government hospital which had a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) though the resident physicians and CMCH Administrators rated the PICU facilities there inadequate. Notably, the CMCH PICU is also the outcome of a PPP initiative and I was left with the further impression that CMCH was leading the way through its proactive public-private initiatives as these.

My best wishes, as always, to all concerned stakeholders in such endeavours.

Sunshine Charities, headed by Ms. Safia Ghazi Rahman is working with us from very beginning of our journey. She and her team regularly visited us, inspire our cancer kids, their parents, donate generously, and help to purchase chemo for poor patients. Before COVID 19 era the students and teachers of Sunshine Grammar School took part in the cleanliness of our hospital wards too.

Since the December of 2004, The Sunshine Charity has been working to provide for the people with greatest needs with the utmost of their abilities. In this dark time, when the world has been gripped in the clutches of the deadly coronavirus, not only has this organisation worked to deliver hundreds of masks, gloves and other PPE items free-of-charge but also provided the very best medical and health care for the vulnerable communities. Furthermore, it helps people with cancer, deal with the emotional, social and financial effects of the deadly disease.

As a long-standing associate and friend of Safia Rahman, I am happy to confirm that I visited with her, in July 2011, the Sunshine Charity Leukaemia Hospital (as it was then) in Chattogram. I was deeply impressed by the dedication of the doctors and the nurses. The children were being cared for with sympathy and love. At the end of my visit I was quite overwhelmed, and happy to contribute in some way.

I realize the hospital has now expanded and broadened its intake as well as obtaining more and more of the latest equipment

I am delighted to endorse the wonderful work of Sunshine Charities at CMCH, having seen for myself the services it provides. I visited the children’s cancer ward in January 2014 where the charity’s commitment to providing much needed resources was evident in the quality of the state-of-the art equipment, the dedication of the staff, the cleanliness, and the real hope in the faces of the parents. Sunshine Charities is an experienced and productive organisation bringing life saving services and hope to the poorest members of the community.

Our amazing front-runner Safia Ghiazi Rahman proved the quote of Mother Teresa- “It’s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.” Safia Ghazi Rahman and Sunshine Charities are spreading love, humanity and light. It was a great pleasure for me to work with them. Sunshine Charities was one of the most active platforms of Bangladesh to fight against COVID-19 pandemic and reaching out to thousands of people. They helped more than 400 students of Chittagong University during this pandemic. It was a joy for me to see the smile in their faces after getting the scholarship.
